Palestinians favour cheap Chinese goods - 8 Sep 2007

Chinese goods have begun flooding Palestinian markets. In the West Bank town of Hebron alone, there are 800 traders who do business with China.
Some Palestinian shoppers have welcomed the lower prices but the competition is proving too stiff for local West Bank factories. Al Jazeera's Walid Batrawi reports.

If you think about the overwhelming amount of stuff we buy from China, the percentage that is actually dangerous or needs recall is very small. US products aren't necessarily safe either. I drive a Ford Explorer and the stupid thing has had 2 recalls on it so far. It had smoke from the steering column and brakes that needed a lot of work. Just keep in mind that nobody is forcing you to buy Chinese goods. Spend your money on overpriced goods from elsewhere. Nobody cares.

Palestinians should be boycotting China's goods to stand as equals with the Uyghur people against the injustice of genocide and illegal occupation.

But instead of protecting their fellow Muslims who are being treated just as terribly as they are, they are instead endorsing the regime that persecutes these fellow Muslims.

I agree w/you. Here in French West Africa, Chinese consumer goods are gaining popularity, We can hardly see any more expensive European goods, except for some French culinary products. As far as American products, they are not available due to their high costs. I do believe the US Govt is trying to create a scare , fear mongering about the growing Chinese economic clout. It is a reality, China is going to dominate financially, economically & further down militarily.

China needs US to buy their products than US needs China's wheat... remember, US can buy wheat in Canada and US can grow wheat and feed itself.
