I used to work at a video store, and one time a teenager came in renting this movie and told me that his mom was making him watch it as a stipulation towards him going on a kayak trip with his friends. I laughed really hard, and he paused and asked, "why, is it good?" I just nodded and told him, "I think you're going to have a good time."

The real theme of the movie is that the country ways of the supposedly unsophisticated hillbillies were underestimated by the people from the city. In the end, if and when society collapses, these people will have the upper hand. It also showed how development is encroaching upon the old traditions of these mountain people. Oh yeah, and there's a male on male rape scene in the middle...
