The First Channel changed its name to Soviet TV Channel One in 1987, and with it came a new ident. This ident used a CG animation of the Spasskaya Tower, which you can find at the Moscow Kremlin. The jingle, which would later be used by the American network CBS for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Norway, remains the same.

Aside from Channel One, all of Gosteleradio's other domestic services (except Radio Moyak) had changed their names.

- ALL UNION FIRST RADIO became ALL UNION RADIO ONE
- THIRD RADIO became RADIO THREE
