Finally got around to taking video footage of the spiders around my home.

I refer to them as "Huntsman's" in the video, that is incorrect.
I believe them to in fact "Wolf Spiders", another non-Lethal spider found across Australia.

They are Non-Lethal and Non-Aggressive, but may bite if provoked. (Especially when carrying young)
In the entire shooting of the footage (This is a small edited portion) I was never bitten except for the last spider I was handling.
I had left the park/bush where I found the bulk, and found this last one in my front Garden, just as I was going inside.
I decided to pick him up and upon being successful I was greeted by a sharp pain in my "pinky" finger.
It felt somewhat like a hypodermic prick and then soon faded. (Like a needle, In-&-Out)
No Big Deal.

No pain, swelling, nausea, or any symptoms.

I do not condone the handling of spiders, unless you are trained, or just a nutcase.
Never approach or handle spiders unless yo are %100 sure of what species it is, and the you have read the relevant precautions surrounding it.

I in fact believed these were Huntsman's at first. Huntsman's have the same nature as Wolf Spiders, they are just slightly larger and brown with no markings.

Enjoy all,

P.S. In order to locate these spiders, a good method is:
1. Obtain a bright clear light source. (I used an LED headlamp with lens)
2. Make sure the light source is as close to your eyes as possible. (If you have a torch, hold it to the side of your head)
3. Look straight ahead and then tilt down until you see little "shimmers" reflecting like glass, these are eyes.
4. Find an angle that works best for you and then keep this while looking around, finding as many as you can.

  • what a fool they have quite a painful bite when provoked !

  • @ckboise1

Annoying perhaps, but I wouldn't say painful.

I donate blood regularly and the hypodermics used by the nurses are more painful than the bite, and I don't find find the needles particularly painful either, just a little prick.

  • I lifted my pillow today and there was a big ass wolf spider, lmao I freaked out.

  • i would smush it

  • @Jon3800 If I saw a tarantula crawling on my bed, I'd freak out. If I saw a dog crawling on my bed, I'd say "aww, that's so cute!" just like most people would. But I couldn't kill a tarantula to be honest. I couldn't kill anything that's bigger than a mosquito. I'd probably release it into my back yard, but not kill it. Too violent for me :x

  • @Doodorz

most of the spiders out there aren't even remotely dangerous to human beings, with FEW exceptions like black widows, funnel webs, banana spiders, brown recluse. I own over 100 tarantulas for 16 years...big hairy ones, 5-10 times bigger than the spider you've seen.

I once thought like you until I overcame my fear and bought my first tarantula, that was brown and pink. Little spiders aren't cute but tarantulas are, go see my videos, you'll appreciate their colors and beauty

  • @Jon3800 If Mosquitoes didn't exist, spiders wouldn't have to exist. Insects just suck.

And of course they run away if they're scared, or throw "threat postures" but they're not worth risking your life over.

    They aren't even cute..
