In 1972 Summer Olympics, the United States' Olympic winning streak, which started in 1936, was ended by the Soviet team's victory in the gold medal game, one of most emotional and dramatic game in the sport's history. In the final three seconds the Soviets threw the ball downcourt, and Aleksandr Belov made a lay-up as time expired for the final margin of 51-50.

Usa was cheated anyone with eyes can see that. Also its totally understandable why they wouldnt except those medals because they were not going to accept something they knew in there hearts that they did not deserve . Also they were going to make them co medalist so that just goes to show that they made a mistake but they weren't going to admit completly that they were wrong so they tried to pull a cop out .

There WERE some questionable calls in the Soviets favor at the end of that game. However, what about the decision to move the game to 12 midnight local Munich time at the request of the Americans,.....in order to accomodate American television. THAT was a bad decision. No one talks about that today. I HATE the russkies but I can't blame them for being angry at that ruling.
