biggest homeworld 1 fleet and counting

one of the greatest games with one of the greatest fleet . . thankx to my 24 salvage corvettes :D . . . . I got lazy to finish the game . . or else I'd have more than 170 ion frigates in this stage . . later I'd get dozens more destroyers and heavy cruisers . . still . . this fleet is big enough to be the biggest IMO

Build 100 Probes, then send them into a mothership, it's called Probe golf.

What it does?

A: A glith that the probes will crash into enemy ships, if you scuttle them, they do more damage.

guess I should mention how I got the swarmer . . . . 3 of them were left at the end of the mission . . sent 3 salvage corvettes . . they kept chasing the swarmers in an area for a long time . . . I left my PC that way and returned after 3 hours . . 1 of them were captured! . . tada . . couldn't wait any longer . . so I continued . . . . . . . . I salvaged all the frigates/capital class ships possible to salvage upto this lvl for your info

Salvaging swarmers is not a big deal, just wait to blow any mushrom ship and they will get shocked for 30 secs or so, time enought to retrive them. The tricky thing is to salvage Turanic fighters and corvettes... I tryed many times and I just got a fighter and 2 missile corvettes.

I remember one mission where I had 100+ ion frigates... and the game couldn't finish this mission: it tried to get ships into formation for the jump and they wouldn't fit on the map.

@maiaadriano Thanks. What i eventually did was buy another HW disk, install it, patch it up to the current version, then i used the german.exe that everyone talks about. And im using Windows 7x64 as well.

@Schoppaul I've managed to run HW (at least Cataclysm, but if I recall correctly, HW1 also worked) on a W7 x64 computer. The only thing was I had to run it in software mode after patching it, else it would crash to desktop (not a problem running it at max resolution, since I was throwing an i7 860 at it... hehe).

You might also get away with a VM that lets the guest OS access the 3D hardware (not sure if XP Mode works), that way you might run it with a standard XP install with 3D acceleration.

May i ask what version of windows everyone is running Homeworld in? Cause Ive tried every compatibility mode on 2 computers and the game still crashes at start.

In my view, the devs RUINED the game by changing the newer versions of HW so there is a limit on the number of ships you can captured. Capturing ships big and small was a pure JOY in HW. Its a single player aspect of the game. WHO CARES if we had a thousand ion frigates? As I result I never paid for any of the newer versions when I realized that I could no longer do what I loved best, which was capturing ships. Sometimes developers forget that a game is meant to be FUN, balance be damned
