General Hospital 1985 Asian Quarter Part 181

Part 181. Bert talks to Sean about the current situation. Bert asks Sean about his future and Sean tells him that he hasn't given it a lot of thought. The board debates the value of the documentary. Anna comes in to plead Buzz's case. Even as Edward rolls his eyes, the board is swayed by Anna's words. Patrick speaks up for Buzz too. Buzz is off the hook. Everybody reconvenes at the Scorpio house. Alan tries to get Edward to forget about Buzz but Edward is out to get him. Monica tells them both off.

Note: I love Don Galloway's acting while Anna is talking about him. Doesn't he look sooooo uncomfortable? Brilliant.

This is during the time that Alan's character was being unevenly written. He was filandering off screen and being a big a** for a while. Again, this is all a build up to Monica's affair with Sean. Not that Monica ever needed a reason to have an affair...but having Alan acting like an idiot helps make the affair justifiable. LOL

A scene like this which goes over the ethics of choices made is one we'd never get today! Today, everything is arbitrarily black and white, right/wrong with no one speaking up about issues that surround the choices made.

I've been "trained" so well under the current administration at GH, that even though in my head I knew Anna was misusing the van (because with all due respect, she sort of was), it's not something I ever thought would be brought up!

Anna did very well telling these people what Buzz did on the van and to help her. So did the others.

Did anyone hear Edward grumbling when Monica told them about having compassion for Robin coz of Anna? Funny DL was famous for that. And I notice with JI, when his Edward gets frustrated, he'll wave someone off. Funny!

I meant the van story part is boring though I think the Asian Quarter one altogether is pretty great.

Everyone is right, the van was misused but this storyline is so pointless! I think the Asian Quarter s/l was wearing thin on everyone so it was time for others to take front and center coz if you think about it, most of 85 was devoted to Asian Quarter, not giving us a chance to breather after Aztec Treasure s/l and I always got bored when GH devoted more time to some characters while lots of others were shoved to the backburner for so long you'd wonder if they were still part of the show.

I think it's a crying shame they meddled with this wonderful bond of friendship between Anna and Buzz, thus damaging the Buzz character along the way

Given the intelligence of the plotting that went on with these early GH episodes, and how unlikely it was that Buzz could ever really compete with Anna's love for Robert, well, I was wondering if all along the PTBs only raised the possiblity of a Buzz/Anna romance so that when Duke did arrive on scene he would be more readily accepted?
