I've come to my senses
How did I get so far from home
The lies dissipating
Revealing I'm so alone
And I remember now how strong love can be
And I wonder how did I ever leave

Burn your fire on the altar
Leave a candle on the porch
I'm still too far away to see it
But I'm aching for its warmth
And I'm so tired and cold and dark and lonesome
But still I hear your song inside
So sing it louder if you want me home tonight
Sing it loud now, 'cause I'm comin' home tonight

This isn't the first time
I've wandered away from home before
So you'd have every reason
To slam and dead-bolt the door
And I remember now how strong your love can be
And I wonder how you might welcome me

Burn your fire on the altar
Leave a candle on the porch
I'm still too far away to see it
But I'm aching for its warmth
And I'm so tired and cold and dark and lonesome
But still I hear your song inside
So sing it louder if you want me home tonight
Sing it loud now, 'cause I'm comin' home tonight

Into your arms, to my back yard
Where I used to play
How I miss the days...

So burn your fire on the altar
Leave a candle on the porch
I'm still too far away to see it
But I'm aching for its warmth
And I'm so tired and cold and dark and lonesome
But still I hear your song inside
So sing it louder if you want me home tonight
Sing it loud now, 'cause I'm comin' home tonight

  • Has anyone noticed that people in here give your thoughts the thumbs down, news flash...it's more than likely that they are cold, unmoved, no heart left in them. A wise man once said, those who look like they need love the least are the ones who need it most...sorry they have to leave lives that are without riches...to them this probably means money...Chris' music is one of those riches.

  • i was laying in my bed today and i was like its been years since i have heard chris rice i love this song

  • This is a beautiful song that just brings tears to my eyes. I want it to be played at my funeral.

  • No words can acurately explain the words for this song. So very inspiring, so very touching. Chris Rice always had the talent to reach into the hearts of those who are blind and captivate them. His words breed tears and his music relaxes the mind. Well done.

  • one of the most beautiful songs ever written to me

  • I am not Christian any longer, but Chris Rice is truly a good artist. I still listen to his music...especially "The Other Side of The Radio" which is my favourite of his music.

  • I just rededicated my life to Christ for the last time after leaving to Islam twice. But He welcomes me back with open arms and a smile on His face. This isn't the first time I've wandered but like I said, it's the last. Sorry Father for wandering and I love you for being so forgiving and taking me back when You really shouldn't have. Amen
