  • As a lifelong Conservative, I am disappointed to note that Mr. Loughton chose to dismiss the feeling, through bitter experience, of families who view social services as being an "interference". Many families feel this way, Mr. Loughton, through repeated false accusations and meddling, by inept and woefully inexperienced social workers.

  • Just take a look at the Wales section of BBC News 24 and you will see why there is such disregard for social workers, when one of their "own" has been convicted of possessing child pornography. Hardly setting the moral bar, are they ?

  • Social Workers did good my parents did not! I think this MP has a point and I know that without the help of social workers I would not be where I am today. If my mother had her way I would be a complete wreck. Social Workers dont let the haters get you down. Peace and Love

  • As a child, the interventions of Social Workers saved my life. As an adult I can talk about the good they do. Social workers advocate for children and children cannot speak up and say social workers are doing a good job. However there is no shortage of parents who want to scream and shout at social workers the way they do at their children. Even now as an adult I feel so sad with how my parents treated me. It is something I will live with for the rest of my life.

  • Social workers, thanks to the current government have found themselves having to justify their positions, when so many of them, in the first instance, have been "sucked" into the public sector in a cynical attempt to massage the true unemployment figure. Social workers need to be accountable.
