@MentalWeapon The breathing is an essential element in Iron Body training. Mind, Body, and Breath. Supposedly, once you master the alignment of all three, you will be able to maintain the type of muscle contraction necessary to absorb an attack. You're not going to be a rock, but you should be afforded the opportunity to strike your opponent since their attack puts them in range of yours.
Different Okinawan Styles, different methods of breathing. Uechi ryu has you keep your jaw closed.

I am looking for books and videos on Daruma Taiso, even if these are in Japanese. If you came across such things, I'd be grateful for your advice.

the off-timing audio makes it seem like the old men's moves are firing some lasers!!!

@GuamKomudo I think you answered your own statement; ..it's history of how they have changed since they were a NEED to live, and what they are today. I just don't think the method of training today resembles very much how it used to be when the focus was survival. Of course, you can use your Karate techniques in MMA, it's not the technique, it's the method of training it. You brake down a technique do understand the bio mechanics better, than you move on and apply it. Boxing, Karate, BJJ=same

That's why they also train by sparring... I will tell you I started in Karate and am now in MMA and I have applied my Karate techniques to the full contact sparring we do and they work quite well WHEN you train to use them to hit someone who's fighting back. You don't know alot of Eastern martial arts of it's history of how they have changed since they were a NEED to live, and what they are today. Today society needs no Samurai, no Hwa Rang etc. These Martial arts is not for fighting anymore.
why is the sound messed up in this thing??
