While I was at Happy Trails in Boise I had the chance to talk with Jason Happy Trails head engineer. He is the guy who designs all the goodies like panniers, fork braces, etc. He explained to me a little about how and why they do things at Happy Trails. All their products are about strength and function, little things that would help their products to look nice like grinding down their welds are big no no's. Because while it might make them look nicer, it would sacrifice on strength.

I was a bit jealous as I walked around and met so many people that get to work in a place that is all about dual sport bikes. It would be a dream job for most people I know.

  • Why your movies are so short? If you don't want to talk for 10-15min show all around, not just static shots from tripod.

  • @glow3tour Youtube videos that are 10-15 minutes long don't get watched as much, so I try to keep them short and post often.

  • I've never heard of a place that didn't grind welds. I've seen these up close and didn't even realize that.

  • @phlemdog Yeah they look pretty darn clean.

  • Aw that is so funny I used to work for Jason and Tim at the fab shop that builds all the racks what a coincidence.

  • Great happy trail review , like the look inside the firm :-)

  • @simon44 The Drift records .mov's which is nice. My Canon is also AVCHD and creates .mts files. I edit with Premiere Pro and don't have any problems with them. You just need to make sure you set up your sequence properly and it won't need to render anything unless you apply some effects to it.

  • @halfthrottle I know what you mean. I'm the same. Can I ask you what file do you normally edit with? My new camera (not the action camera) records in AVCHD and my pc doesnt like it very much. I suppose I might have to convert it or something.

  • @ToastToGo I'm happy to be back in Panama so I can start cranking out videos again. I get twitchy if I don't have something to edit.

  • Awesome gear.
