I found this gem in a box of 8mm films given to me for a transfer job to DVD. It's a series of "run what ya brung" drag races at Island Dragway, Great Meadows, NJ in 1962. The guy I'm doing the job for was driving the blue '62 Impala SS 409. Enjoy!

My brother jim bailey ran a 58 light blue vette here in '64-'65 a dual quad bored out 283 running a t-10 trans and snow tires to get some traction!!! If anyone has pics of my brothers vette, would love to get my hands on some copies.. thanks

What A Great Video! Iam So Glad That Some Of This Old Drag Racing Made It On Film! I Caught The Very Tail End Of This Era And Would Give Anything To Have Been A Part Of It! I Love The Old Pontiacs, Especially The 1961's! I Noticed The One On This Video. Did You Happen To Know Anything About This One Or Any Of The Other Pontiacs That Were Racing? guess the 413's were'nt allowed to race these jalopy chevys, and fords. my granddad had a 62 plymouth fury 413 wedge, that would have smoked any of these cars in this video. cool video!

OMG I grew up here my father raced all kinds of cars there for Scotties Mufflers most mentionable would be the Yellow Chevy Luv truck that pulled wheelies off the line. I just found out they filmed a movie there called Tasmanian devil in the '60s then found this short video awesome!!
