The XO laptops in Saint-Anthony School in Dugawar (rural area, U.P., Moradabad district, India). March 2009. It is a social project initiated by 'Oeuvre des pains' a non-profit organization from Belgium. (http://www.oeuvredespains.org)
We have 36 XO. We don't follow the OLPC ideology of 'one laptop per child' because we believe it is not pedagogically efficient and also we feel it cannot be justified economically (we feel infrastructures are more important). Computers are owned by the school, are kept all together in a cupboard, and are used by the children only during the computer class or some free periods. With 36 XO, each child has a computer in front of him during the computer class and that is what we feel important.
The school is English medium, has approximately 650 students, and will be registered with CBSE (at the moment, in the academic year 2008-2009, the older children are in class 5).
Note : copyright shows 2006, but it is actually 2009.
