Fly me to the moon
Let me play among those stars
Let me see what spring is like
On jupiter and mars

In other words, hold my hand
In other words, baby kiss me

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore

In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

bossa nova, the rhythm that was going to upstage rock and roll. It is one of my favorite music styles because of it's complexity of beat and melody. Takes a little more musicianship. Combined with Julie's husky voice, it's almost heaven.

I was born in the 60's in the USA, and bossa nova was always in the background--usually relegated to muzak-y orchestrations. I took it for granted and basically ignored it for decades. Now, it is one of my favorite music styles as well--for all the reasons you stated. Gilberto, Bonfa, Jobim, de Moraes, Getz... geniuses.

I'm with you all the way. I play woodwinds and particularly like the flute and took 8 yrs of classical lessons. I really appreciate the rhythm, complex chords and modalities allowed in this style. It lets someone in the audience know you master the instrument and understand music. Let's interpret and not just fill or trill.
