On April 11, 2010 Congressman Bob Filner held an event at "Queen Bees" (San Diego). He never had a Town Hall before the Obamacare was passed and this event was billed as a "private" event, designed to be loaded with his supporters.

Stop Obama Now organizer was outside, chanting and picketing. Management threatened to call the police. I observed that it was too bad they could not call the storm toopers. Shortly after that a thug did in fact show up.

The San Diego Police Department did not respond appropriately. They were sympathetic to the perpetrator and theatened to arrest the victim for jaywalking. The officer was reluctant to even listen to witnesses other than they ones backing the thug. They proposed charges of vandalizing the handle of the sign for damages of 99 cents and suggested that my legal recourse is to sue the perpetrator for 99 cents in small claims court. Free Speech does not seem to have a high piority or value with officer Moncrief.

Officer Moncrief informed us that we could not display signs in public that are too large or have something "outrageous" on them. He is apparently the judge of what is outrageous and what not.

It turned out that Tony Kranz was running for City Councilman of Encinitas. We talked to the City Council a few months later about his street thruggery and probably as a result of this he lost the election. His opposition sent out flyers about it to the local voters just before the election. So there is some justice in the world.
