I love this hat and tried to make one, but mine turned out more like a beret shape. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions?

I think it's the yarn we're using. I use acrylic 4 ply worsted and it's kind of firm, so maybe if we use really soft yarn it will 'flow' more.
