A home school art / science lesson. Water table is filled with a very watery version of Gack (cornstarch and water) and drops of food coloring are added.

  • Could you home school me?! ;-p

That looked very beutiful and enjoyable. My mainstream art techers would not have liked this, they as I remember had only one way of doing art and that was their way (there way was not my way, but when i was a kid i did what i was told).

I am ure we call that mix gloop, over in scotland.

  • Hi Rainbowmummy,

My son is autistic and has sensory processing issues so "do it my way" gets us nowhere. We spend a lot of time working with him to develop new meaningful and attractive ways to share information.

I had a lot of fun with the color swirl project too. The first swirl in the video turned into my self- portrait complete with big glasses and long hair. Although my nose is not usually green :0)

The mix seems to go by many names - mostly it's just fun!

  • Thank you for putting this up, I am going to have to try this with my 4 year old daughter who has a lot of SPD issues. Ithink this will calm her down a lot when she is have a melt down. can you tell me how much corn startch and wather you used in this? thanks!

it is very relaxing to watch

  • He just turned 6.

  • How old is your son btw, my son is 5.

  • Letting him do it his way is the only way!! Thats my way to. I have ppl come to the house to work with him and had to say firmly, let go of his hand!!

A really pretty thing to try is getting a cup, of water then putting some oil on top then on top of the oil some food colour on top, just a few drops. Then you need to ush the colour through using a tooth pick or a pencil. Very swirly!!
