I agree it's not ppl r afraid of death. It's mostly the thought of wht happens after tht scares them ie being judged for wht u did on earth.

@Nandine2 good people are not content with their good deeds so they fear that they are sinners, sinners are not sure whether they will be forgiven or not, the afterlife for us is the moment of truth. It is not only hellfire that terrifies us.. its having to face our lord with our sins..
