The host of the program should keep her personal family business out of the show. With all due respect, the fact that your sister in law was a computer programmer doesn't necessarily make her good enough. Just as you defend that the fact that our husbands are skilled, it doesn't make us as skilled, that is also true about americans with degrees. A degree is not a guarantee that people are good or skilled enough and not even that they have what the companies are looking for
Stop calling the H-1b visa "cheap labour" visa. I am Indian. I came to the US as an F-1 student at 19, finished my PhD in math from an Ivy League univ at 22 years and 3 months and now I have two professorial positions and I spend 6 months in the US and 6 months in Europe shuttling between them. I have an H-1B visa. Demeaning people like me? I'd love to see that American woman's bro-in-law compete with me in intellectual capability.
Thanks Meghana for taking the first step for us and giving voice to the plight of so many other women in this sad situation..especially where you showed how husbands behave unreasonably and condescendingly with their wives cos they think 'where is she going to go anyway' heck she can't even drive..she's reduced to a nobody with no identity in this country.I'm proud of you for deciding not to take any drastic decisions cos you have to live on to spread the message and be a beacon of hope for us
Respect for everyone's perspectives is the only way to go. It is not appropriate to ask "you knew what you were getting into so why did you". Selecting your husband is a much bigger, broader decision.
if laws cannot be change , embassies should tell the visa holder what their life will be. H-4 visa is a stupid visa. They advice h-4 visas to do volunteer work, what? Free work?
She doesnt understand the needs of such provision...If she really beleives US citizens cannot get jobs in IT, then she is not elgible to talk about it. If they have skills, they sure will get one. Its the manufacturing thats taking away jobs.
One thing is - Meghana - you have it in you. You would make it, even if you are in a pigeon hole.
I empathise with the documentary maker and I from India too....but you have the options..
If you are on H4, half the job is done since you are here. Now you need to compete and make it into job market if you have to get paid. We are here because of the "specialized skill" - which means we are not going to eat away the usual jobs which the citizens have right to.
And regarding the interviewer, she just thinks Bill gates is US and US is bill gates.
I think it's great someone talks about H4's, but this debate was totally biased and in general uninformed, except for Mrs Bennett

Nice portrayal of an hidden issue. Good Job.
Comments on the debate
I think the conductor of the interview "Bonnie E" should be unbiased, but she seem to hold opinions which are unproved and debatable.
And I am curious to know about the privileges that are available in the US which denied to whole of India ??!!
The debate has moved out of context rather than addressing to the situation or remedies except for the final line.
