read my previous reply. many have searched VERY DILIGENTLY for it. NO one has a copy. No one. Guaranteed. Period. People like me and cupcake012 have scoured 30 pages of Google results for every different combination of keywords, Limewire, Soulseek, Bearshare, iTunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, BitTorrent, Jon Brion-esque related forums...everything. Jon Brion SAT on this recording. It will most likely never be released. Probably because Director Adam McKay is partially credited and he is a douchebag. =[

I also have a strong feeling this song is only as long as it is featured in Step Brothers, as in under 2 minutes. This may be why it was never released separately, but may have been if they had released an OST or more likely the film score, very unlikely for a comedy. Remember the score for the film is all Jon Brion, it's not unlike him to throw a little pop thing in there just to feature his amazing talent. He's like that, writing quasi score/soundtrack material unfortunately you never know.

i know his style. i own the "i heart huckabees" soundtrack. its a damn shame though.

I tried earlier this year too and again this week but it's always the same. He really sat on it. Not even an instrumental or an in-house leak. I think at this point you have two options: 1) send a message through his MySpace and hope the admin gets it to him and we find out why it's not available or how it could become available. And/or 2) go to Largo at the Coronet in LA on almost any Friday around 9:30p and hope to catch him before or after the show and harass him for it. I <3 that song too!
