Civil disobedience movements of the past and present are noble and successful only when their participants are willing to accept grave consequences for their actions. By contrast, tens of thousands of people might press "Like" on Facebook or sign a petition to no real effect. Is this form of public protest enough?

  • PpppppplllllllllrrrrrrRRRRTTTTTT!!!!

(I achieved this by sticking out my tongue, pressing my lips together and blowing hard).

  • But if you have a facebook group with people that actually plan together a diplomatic solution and go the process... I am starting to believe that is effective. There are many protests... people taking to the streets and their issues get highlighted and get people talking but it's our leaders that need to pay attention and work towards solutions. But "social media" also highlights issues very effectively. I'm just saying that I believe there is more than one of of skinning the cat.
