Hidden In The Scars;; Part 14

'Terrible' is the only word to describe this shambles, that is called my writing.

Selena broke down as soon as the reality hit her. She slept with Nick and now Joe is dying. God was punishing her for her sin. She was losing what meant most to her.

Joe weakly patted the empty space on the bed. Selena walked over and climbed onto the bed as she lay beside Joe. "You were fine yesterday" she sniffled as she placed her hand on Joe's cheek.

"I know. I guess I was working too hard today" he chuckled lowly as he placed his arm around Selena's waist.

"I don't want to lose you Joe" Selena cried as she allowed the tears to spill from her eyes.

"Your not losing me" he said as a small smile etched on his lips. "I will always be here" he said as he pointed to Selena's chest.

Selena smiled as she leant forward and gently placed her lips on his, "I'm scared" she admitted as she leant back and rested her head on the pillow.

Joe looked down at her as his hands brushed through her brunette curls, trying to soothe her, "don't be. It's just another part of life" he admitted.

Selena and Joe spent the rest of the day in each other arms, as they both were exhausted from crying they fell to sleep together and spent the night just being in each others arms.

I walked into the ward in the morning as I saw them together. A pang of jealously swept through me as Selena held onto Joe for dear life as they slept peacefully. I know I was being selfish, my friend was dying physically as the love of my life was dying mentally.

Selena's eyes fluttered open as she saw me looking down at her, "what are you doing here?"

"I've come to see Joe" Nick admitted as he sat down on the chair. Selena sighed and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. She sat up, removing Joe's arm from her chest.

I looked at Selena and sighed. Her face turned serious and I knew she was about to tell me something that she was soon going to regret.

"Look Nick, we need to talk" she finally said as she slipped off the bed. I got up from the chair and followed her outside the room. She turned to face me and teased her hands through her hair, "this needs to stop"

"What needs to stop?"
"This, us" she sighed. "I can't let Joe down anymore then I already have. I've already cheated on him and now look, he's dying" she exclaimed, pointing back to the bed Joe was lying in.

"You can't honestly believe that because we slept together Joe is getting punished. That's stupid Sel" I shouted. I got various looks from nurses as they passed by but I wasn't taking this. Selena is not getting rid of me that easily. I only just got her back.

"It's not. Joe is the most important person in my life. He's helped me so much over the four years I've known him whilst you were gone, now you come back and he's paying for my mistake"

I looked at her shocked, "so sleeping with me was a big mistake?" Selena just nodded, her eyes looking down at the white polished floor. She couldn't look at me, she knew she just ripped my heart out.

I shook my head, not believing her, "no it wasn't. Sleeping with me was no mistake. Your just saying this because your upset"

"I'm not" Selena whispered as her eyes looked back at mine. No emotion was played on her face. She looked like a robot. She cut her emotions off from me so I was unable to read her like I always used too. "Nick I don't love you and I don't want you in my life. Just stay with Demi, forget about everything we have done together, just move on"

Joe woke up to Nick's booming voice. He looked over at the window, that displayed the corridor and he saw Selena and Nick standing there. He overheard their conversation, he heard what Nick had said to Selena, what Selena said to Nick and he heard something he knew was going to happen. He knew Selena still loved Nick. Ever since Nick came back the only time him and Selena spent together was when they were asleep.

He knew he was about to die, he could forgive Selena and pretend he didn't hear anything. As much as Joe envied the fact that Selena could never show Joe the passion she did when she was with Nick, he was soon to be out of her life. Joe knew Selena loved him and she sacrificed everything to stay by his side. Now he was going to leave, Selena needed Nick to take his place. Joe now knew what he had to do before leaving her life for good and he knew exactly how to do it.
