VX SS Commodore LS1 5.7 Litre V8

It has the following modifications:

-Harrop HH122 Supercharger, Intercooler
-Fuel System to suit, 2 bar mafless tune
-Tein SuperStreet Coilovers with EDFC
-Exedy Brass Button Clutch
-Rip Shift kit
-Pacemaker headers, Hi Flow cats, 3" custom exhaust
-19" ROH Fury wheels
-Aftermarket Sunroof
-Slotted discs, EBC Greenstuff pads
-HSV Pedals
-Pioneer DEH-P9850BT Head Unit, iPod adapter
-MTX 6" Splits, MTX 6" 2 way speakers
-MTX Sledgehammer subs (2x12")
-Alpine and Sony Amps

The car has a soft tune making ~300kw/680nm at the treads. It's tuned this way to keep it reliable, but still good for the occasional burst of fun.

  • Shit, My Minister for war and finance would not let me spend that much, I got a huge deal on what i already have and she was having a go, I might go the cheaper and get cams done, Brother in the trade so everything heaps cheaper, and have been told with cams can get 280 to 300 at the wheels, 222 atm, But im pretty sure you could get heaps more then its putting out now.

  • Well, you could go cheaper with a lower boost, non intercooled charger and still have a boat load of fun, I'd avoid hair dryer style blowers, but they are generally cheaper.

Its not all about peak power for me... power delivery is why I went the roots style supercharger, loads of power and torque straight off idle.

Cams that make great peak numbers, can suck for daily drivers when low down torque and power is sacrificed. Do your research, find the combo that works for you :) good luck!

  • Very nice mate, I just had a bit of work done on my VT SS and the next thing is the charger, if you dont mind me asking what did it cost?

  • Whole setup was a bit of a blow to the wallet... you could do it cheaper... but for me:

I went for the bigger blower at the time (HH122 vs HH112), water-> air intercooler, fuel system upgrade (injectors come with the blower, got a better fuel pump too), valve springs and the famous Sonny @ Marranos Tune and minor repairs.. like leads and service. All up, just short of $14k.

Charger + Intercooler + injectors was just over $10k by itself from harrop.

$8k I think without the intercooler.

  • Thanks for all the nice comments, glad you like it :)

The harrop is a good blower for anyone interested in going the supercharged route. Excellent quality, and Sonny @ Marranos does a bloody good job.

  • KW ???? at the wheels ?????? is what ????

  • Yeah, as Steve said ~300kw at the wheels.

Last dyno was 303.4kw at the treads, just over 680nm (685). Not the biggest numbers, but it's not a dyno day kind of car, it's just a car to get to and from work and have a bit of fun.

  • not bad but y did u go for the hh122 blower n not the htv 1900?? i thort the hh122 blowers were best suited for the 60L n up.... im geting the htv 1900 in a few weeks time im looking at 350-380rwkw ive got 270rwkw at the moment with just a cam...

  • how does the DEH-P9850BT head unit connect to your ipod? you said ipod adapter, is that via USB or auxiliary?

  • TOUGH!

  • Have fun with the Textralia clutch...They are crap.I have a vy ss ute with a htv 2300 harrop supercharger. Well known by harrop as it produced 419.8 rwkw.

  • The next mod for my ve ss is that supercharger......love the sound!
