The black fly is the bane of the north woods and one of the true hells on earth. If you could eradicate the black fly, all the bears would come up to you to personally shake your hand and Big Foot wouldn't be so reclusive and grouchy. The Canadian Tourist Board would like to sweep this one under the rug.

@cptfancypants Hell, even with DEET and thick woolen socks, they got my ankles but good in an hour of blueberry picking. I've dealt with the "swollen infected mess" before, and now pack antihistamines when I go north. They relieve the swelling and itching, preventing the infection, and allow you to sleep at night, too - and get bitten more!

This is definitely NOT Stan singing. I have a recording of Stan Rogers singing this song, and his voice sounds very different.

My arms still have scars from planting trees 3 years ago. Swollen infected mess, I cannot imagine what it would be like working in those woods before DEET. Wade Hemsworth is a bad ass.

Defintely Wade. I grew up with his music as he was my uncle. In the NFB version he sings in the background. He would have been around 80 at that time
