Fleetwood Country Cruize 2009: Gene Winfield Customs

This was filmed Saturday June 6, 2009 at the Fleetwood Country Cruize in London, Ontario

i wasn't going to use this footage, as its on the poor side of quality, as my Digital cameras battery died just before this!, so i had to use my handy dandy Samsung cell phone camera, alas the quality ain't HQ or even HD, but i think its worth the watch! plus the music helps,

Built by: Gene Winfield in 1978
Notes: Used by Mattel in 1998 for a Hot Wheels model
Owner: The car is now owned by Harold Ehle of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Ride: 1957 Chrysler "Golden Sunrise"
Built by: Gene Winfield in 1982 for Richard Zocchi
Owner: John D'Agostino

1957 Ford "Jade Idol II"
Built by: Gene Winfield in 2008, this car is based on the first Jade Idol that Gene built back in 1958, the Jade Idol II was built for Bob Fryz
Owner: Bob Fryz

The radical Red car is called the Strip Star,
A radical custom created by Gene Winfield in 1965 and named the "Strip Star." This car was to be a racing show car. It featured an asymmetric styled, hand-formed aluminum body, powered by the new Ford 427 engine, with an enclosed driver's compartment and open-air seating for the passenger. The car featured a full-length belly pan and ran 127 miles per hour at the Bonneville Salt Flats just prior to completion for the show circuit.

@kretincooper thanks for the comment Koop, the guy at 2:30 is actually a custom car builder, his name is Gene Winfield, and he actually built these cars in this video! and your right Koop, many cars today have no style or character, you can't even customize them to look as good as these cars!

@yooperd amazingly that song came from a Youtube audio swap! as the audio was distorted for some reason on the original video, i guess Youtube doesn't like the video format from my cell phone, i tried a few times re-uploading the video, and still the audio came out all distorted and super bouncy and echo like, and thanks for commenting, still some more from the 2009 show! and now on Saturday i got some more videos from the 2010 show! so i got a good supply of videos for sometime,

I see the car at 1;25 is a 60 Chev Impala. He did a beautiful job of customizing those classics.

@monarch1957 thanks Barry, ya i figured it was a '60 Chevy, i should look it up and see if i can find details on it, then i will add it with the rest in the more info section, and thanks for commenting! still a few videos from the 2009 show, and of course now i have even more videos and pictures from the 2010 show! but now i can't wait for the 2011 show! but i will try and get out to some of our smaller shows and cruises this summer and fall,

Yeah, I got daydreaming about having an awesome classic, then I got looking at your vids. Driving the back roads here in Alberta, you'd be amazed at the amount of old cars from days gone by just sitting in yards just waiting for a rebuild.
