Never Gonna Be Alone; Ep. 85 (SERIES FINALE - Part 2/2)

When Joe finally gets back home, he couldnt contain his excitement. All he had to do was turn the papers in and Lexie's last name would soon be Jonas. Even though she already was like a daughter to him, he felt really good that it could be really REAL. He got permission from Trace and he was really glad that he and Trace were on good terms now. From the beginning, Joe really hated Trace, but with time and new people in his life, the man's attitude had really improved for the better. Joe glides up the stairs quickly with the signed papers in his hand. He rushes into the room and holds the papers up for Demi to see.
"She's legally mine!" He exclaims, beaming. Demi gasps and smiles wide. "Trace is a changed man. He's got a girl and a son, and was SO understanding."
"Thats amazing, babe!" Demi says, smiling wide. For Demi, sure she had a lot of things that happened in her past but now she was living life on her own with her own family and she wasnt going to let anyone ruin this for her.
"Where's my girl?" Joe looks around for a sign of Lexie in the room but she wasnt there.
"She's a little mad at me for kicking her out. I think she's in her room," Demi tells him.
Joe sighs. "I'll go check on her." Joe walks out of their room and goes into Lexie's room. Lexie was sitting on the ground against the wall, her arms crossed over her chest. Her eyes were red and it looked like she had been crying.
"Aw, baby, come here," Joe leans down to pick her up. He sits at her bed and sets her on his lap. "What's wrong?" Joe looks at Lexie and she shakes her head, not wanting to say anything. "C'mon, Alexis, you can tell daddy anything."
Lexie pouts, "Mommy doesnt want me anymore." She frowns.
"What? Why would you think that?"
"She only cares about the baby and not me. She scolds me.."
"Its because the baby just got here and she's very careful of him.. But that doesnt mean she doesnt care for you anymore. She loves you just as much as she loves Adam. Nothing can change that."
"But she hates me," Lexie complains.
"Its for the sake of the baby. He needs his sleep," Joe tells her, "and you're a big girl now. Am I right?" Lexie nods, that frown still on her face. "She just needs space."
A few seconds go by and Lexie doesnt say anything. "Are you okay now?" Joe asks.
Lexie looks up at Joe, on the verge of tears. "I feel lonely, daddy," she cries, wrapping her small arms around Joe's waist and holding onto him.
Joe rubs his hand up and down her back and kisses the top of her head. Lexie looks up at Joe again as tears stream out of her big eyes. Joe feels a sense of deja vu for a moment. He reaches over and pushes her hair out of her eyes and says, "You're never gonna be alone, Alexis Marie. Never ever in a million years." With that, Lexie burries her face in Joe's chest and mumbles a quiet, "I love you, daddy."
"I love you, too, babygirl," he replies back, smiling a bit. Joe turns as he feels Demi's presence next to him. Demi smiles at them and wraps her arms around Joe's waist.
Demi leans forward and whispers into his ear, "Thank you for being such an amazing daddy to her, Joe. I couldnt ask for more." Joe and Demi's eyes meet and the thunder and lightning that once struck though them from the very day they met was still there, going strong. The look in Joe's eyes reminded Demi of the very reasons she fell in love with him in the first place. He leans his forehead against Demi's and smiles at her.
"You remember the very day where I came across you walking alone in the streets because of your mom?" Joe asks her quietly because Lexie was still there. Demi nods. "Remember how you hesitated when I told you to get in my car?" Demi nods once again. "I'm really glad all that did happen, Demi. I couldnt imagine my life being anything else. I'd be nowhere without you."
"Its ironic because I'd literally be dead if it werent for you, Joe," she says. He smiles. She continues, "Thanks for never leaving me alone, Jonas."
"Who are you calling Jonas, Jonas?" he jokes. She playfully hits his arm, making Lexie giggle. "And you Ms. Lexie Jonas, you need to do your homework," Joe says, tickling her sides.
Lexie laughs and tries to pry herself off of Joe. "But I dont have homework!"
"Liar!" Joe laughs. "You wanna help daddy make dinner, princess?"
"Yes! I'll race you!" Lexie hops off of Joe and runs out.
Demi and Joe laugh. "That girl is a handful.. but I still love her." Joe gets up and is about to walk out but turns to look at Demi. "Just for the record, Dem.. I know that I've probably said this a billion times but I'll say it again.. I'm never going to leave you alone. I promise."
Demi smiles. "You're doing a good job so far, baby."
Joe smiles wide and proud at her before turning around and disappearing downstairs to make dinner for his wonderful family.

Aww, such an incredible story! I remember when this one was just out and I was like: WOHOOO! A NEW JEMI STORY! and I always got excited everytime I saw that you just posted the next episode :) and now.. Now the story's over :( and a new story will begin.. But you know i have a Deja vu right now, too.
