  • EC2 on Linux free tier, you can start for $0 and some code. heh. Leasing a SaaS to a few customers would be as easy as hooking up Paypal to your site that serves up SugarCRM or something.

  • The licensing costs of closed source products isn't prohibitively high if you go with Microsoft products. You can lease web servers for hundreds a month, Windows operating system included. I'm doing it now, successfully. :)
