Some inhabitant activity at Carn Euny may have started as early as the Neolithic period. It appears that earlier wooden huts were replaced by stone dwellings .The remains of which are seen in our video. The people who lived at Carn Euny were farmers and possibly tin dealers who traded with the ancient world. The most interesting and lovely structure within Carn Euny is undoubtedly the fogou (Cornish for cave), an artificial underground passage, usually running just below the surface of a dwelling area and roofed with massive stone slabs. These can be seen in the video. The Carn Euny fogou is highlighted in our video. It consists of a passage about 20m (65ft) long, a side passage leading to an unusual circular stone chamber (the roof of which has now collapsed), and a tiny creep-passage, possibly the emergency exit. • Hi Khalid

yes that's so true what you say we are very lucky in Cornwall.Much remains even though no motar or concrete was used. The bare stones were chosen for fit and piled using weight and length to produce amazing structures. Some have suggested that certain stones were shaped by rubbing against tougher stones.

  • you can make youre own mini-village in youre garden! all you need is those small flat smooth stones ! include little standing stones and its a Holy mini-neolithic village!

  • Thanks for watching. What you say sounds great but acer but what about the fogou .You would have problems with H & S !

  • How right you are! It's a beautiful setting and the quality of life there must have been good as it was inhabited for a very long time.

  • That is so cool just to have something that ancient in your area. Nothing here in Minnesota is remotely like that.

  • I'm so pleased you enjoyed the video of this area.Sites like this are so special out of season.I have heard, although I have not been to check, that the site's fogu is not as depicted back then.

  • I have been to all the fogous in Kernow, but this one is just amazing.

    Thanks for sharing.

  • Chysauster is another beautiful ancient village site, situated on a hillside above Penzance. The Fogou has fallen there into disrepair there though and is closed to the public, so thanks for upleading this video. I can now see what a Fogou looks like inside too!!!!!!!

  • How much better is Carn Euny than London? I know where I'd rather be.
