Toyota has taken the wraps off the Prius c.

Virtually identical to the JDM Aqua, the hatchback will debut at the North American International Auto Show in January. It is being targeted at "youthful shoppers seeking fuel efficiency, technology, and spirited driving dynamics."

Details are fairly light, but the car measures 157.3 inches long, 66.7 inches wide and 56.9 inches tall. Additionally, the Prius c has Bluetooth connectivity, steering-wheel audio controls and an optional Entune infotainment system.

Power comes from a 1.5-liter petrol engine and a small electric motor. Specifications were not released, but a leaked brochure - for the Aqua - revealed the car will have a combined output of 100 PS (74 kW / 99 hp). More importantly, Toyota says the c has an estimated city fuel economy rating in excess of 50 mpg (4.7 L/100km; 60 mpg UK).

  • @uRabbit This is America....it's all about image...you get over it..old man

  • Why are the Korean such better designer than the damn Japanese

  • I'll so get oneeeeee!!!! 53MPG? are you kidding me? what beats that? + it doesn't look as horrible as the previous Prius (all)... some adjustments and changes will obviously need to be done... maybe a bodykit, lowering and some nice BBS on autocross tires, sway bars and maybe some more :) ... am i thinking to far here? (i'm thinking to autocross in the P3 that i rented... stock... just to see how i do, compared to what i'm driving now)...

  • i liked the concept.. but this sucks

  • @uRabbit I would disagree, most people view a vehicle as a status symbol. People advertise themselves with their vehicle, its the first thing strangers see and form an opinion.
