Membership site now open: http://retirecheap.tv/members Many people ask me what is needed and how to go about opening a bank account in Thailand as a foreigner. Recently I was told you cannot open a Thai bank account without a work permit. So let's go into a Thai bank and ask them just what we need. Come along with me.

  • If the non-immigrant visa refers to the "one year multiple entry non-immigrant visa" getting one is not easy unless ur married to a Thai or will be working for a Thai organization. In the past individual embassies-consulates handed such visas out at their own discretion, but I understand that they have streamlined theri operations! Landing that elusive visa if ur on a CAT 1 budget will,I believe, virtually impossible!

  • @keenok100 Had three people over in the last week 2 with non-O multiple and one with Non-B all with multiple entry received just by asking on the application. Guess right now they have loosened a bit.

  • @retirecheapjc I think the KEY is actually GETTING that elusive non-O! The embassy guys in my city wont issue them anymore! they USED to a few years back! :( But I recallI was really nice to them! LOL Did they get em from Australia? I know of ppl who have gotten the non-0, just by askin in AUS!

  • @keenok100 I have seen people now opening accounts with real tourist visas (not to be confused with what is called visa-on-arrival)

  • Back in 1997 banks let u open up a bank account on a tourist visa! I heard that even now its up to the discretion of the individual banks when deciding whether or not to allow someone on a tourist visa. Most will not allow this, but I HEARD that some may! Just rumors!

  • @keenok100 In the last month 3 people all opened bank accounts with with tourist visas and one with a non-B. Again right now it's easy. Just as you saw in the video.

  • @retirecheapjc yea, yea sounds good. IM WAITING FOR MORE FREAKIN VIDS!!!

  • If non-immigrant visa refers to the "one year multiple entry non-immigrant visa" then getting one is not all that easy! Its not like you can walking into the Thai embassy in ur country and say you want one! It WAS a bit more flexible in the past, with each embassy-consulate deciding who gets what, but they have streamlined a lot of their overseas operations! If u have job offer or married to a Thai, not an issue, otherwise some barriers. If ur in CAT 1 getting this elusive visa will b tricky!

  • @numthai68 You are so welcome. I am glad you find them helpful. The kids here all wear school uniforms and respect their elders and are just great kids. Not a bad way to grow up!!
