  • I think that the more expensive of the two filters has a water separator built into it. I have one in my truck. There's a thumbscrew thing with a water outlet for draining accumulated water. I installed mine in order to do away with the horrible Stanadyne water separator that came from the factory on my '86 Ford diesel. I hope that you still have some kind of water separator on your truck. They're important. Don't ask me how I know that.
