may be stupid but could be plausable. as the tardis blew up some part of the tardis casing got damaged. some time energy leaked out and caused havoc upon the universe. i bet its tardis energy. its reminiscent of when the slitheen chick got turned into an egg after that tardis energy touched her. in this one, the energy consumed people like they never existed. i dont know, i honestly dont know, but hey this is a stupid opinion of mine in which i thought up for about...5 seconds.
