Justice Department Increasingly Avoiding Corporate Prosecutions
The Justice Department has put off prosecuting more than fifty companies suspected of wrongdoing over the last three years. The decline in prosecutions is seen as a deliberate and dramatic shift in policy. While the news reported in a front-page article in the New York Times surprised many, the Justice Department's use of so called "deferred prosecution agreements" is nothing new. Back in 2005, a report released by the Corporate Crime Reporter profiled dozens of these cases and warned against their use. We speak with Russell Mokhiber, editor of the Corporate Crime Reporter. • "There is nothing more corrupting, nothing more destructive of the noblest and finest feelings of our nature, than the exercise of unlimited power" --William Henry Harrison 9th President of the USA

  • Go look and see how many people of govt agenices have resigned this year. or retired. It is profound. If you need the link let me know. Dept of Justice included. The staff of Dept of Justice is told who and hwat they can advocate and for some odd reason there is alot of resignation and retirement in EPA, DOJ and other govt depts.

  • This is what 'Corporate Personhood' has brought us.

Corporations are not 'alive' so they do not die; they can exist for hundreds of years, amassing mammoth wealth and power.

Dr. Thom Hartmann's book, "Unequal Protection, the Theft of Human Rights" spells out how "PERSONHOOD was STOLEN" back in 1886, and the horrible price 'Natural Born Persons' - US - we have paid, and continue to pay.

  • Why are they avoiding? Because our current President and his administration don't care about things like human rights they just care about corporations and them making money. Imagine some credit card company charging you late fee every couple of months even though you were like 10 days ahead of your due date. The reality is that they do it often and that's how they make profits, and nobody is doing anything cause we have a lame duck president.
