Bang the Machine is a documentary on the fierce fighting game scene in 2002. It features the most notorious names to have ever walked into an arcade like Alex Valle, Duc Do, John Choi, Justin Wong and even Diago Umehara.

However, it's a really hard movie to track down since screening is limited to a handful of events a year and there is no DVD release. So the only thing widely avaliable would be this trailer.

UPDATE: Someone uploaded a non-skipping version of the trailer link here...

  • Why is this not on DVD or online to watch? Whats the point if your not going to release it for wider viewing?

  • @MatticusFinch1820 The reason why it's not out on DVD is because the producers would face legal actions against the use of various music used in the movie. If they could edit the music out, they would of a long time ago but the master edit copy is long lost during 9/11.

The producers hope to release this film one day to break even on their production costs, but they could never do it if the movie gets pirated online.

  • The Americans got stomped on in the Street Fighter Third Strike and Alpha 3 tournament. We almost tied in Street Fighter II but lost by 2 games. Then we completely owned in Marvel vs. Capcom allowing only 2 Japanese victories.

  • ask us for money to pay the music rights and thats all... this thing looks amazing and people need to see it... this was like the golden age of the FGC, when everything was almost underground and competitive at the highest levels. Internet wasnt good enough to show videos of the best players around the world. For what I know, this doc has the arrival of Daigo to the US for the very first time, what an amazing moment it should be. Also like Valle acting like a prep gangster

  • I have an idea... since this can't "legally" be released, put it online, and have people donate to get a .torrent link or to get the .avi link. Plenty of people would donate.... they may not make millions of dollars, but they'd make SOMETHING...

  • this all fak actually, in japan they hack the game systems in their uncle's arcade and invite people to play/ Quote common actually, US fighters are better!!!

  • OMG! I'm so glad I found out about this. I wish there was some way to see this. I definitely have to see this documentary. As a hardcore SF player, this is good fuel for the soul!

  • @r00sh It hasn't come out. I saw this at this at evo and it's really good =D

  • did the movie even come out? i know the company that was making it had its offices in the world trade center when 9/11 happened and didnt have insurance to rebuild.

  • i believe its push the tempo.

  • I don't appreciate ignorant bastards getting offended on the internet by a non racist term. The only racist is you if you still view this word as derogatory.
