I never could understand why birds do that...That whole...Mouth crunchy thing. Made me kind of think that it was the equivalent to grinding teeth...

Dont listen to these people my princess parrot grinds all the time he mostly does it when he is sleepy pretty much when he is calmed and relaxed and steve tells me when he is thirsty he says water so thats how i know so the information on here is false you are correct it is when they are happy or relaxed or content

@konni1231 there is a difference between this noise and the death noise... the noise they make when dying is when they breathe.... this is a normal noise they make when sleepy

@lostinvast part of this information comes from studying every aspect of the individual and how their actions similate to how they feel, ect. I think he is very content but think about why you would also move your mouth around that much

@lostinvast Goin pretty well. Im working on DL at the moment away from home but before i left i was working on the power pause technique and i was able to get at least about two or three inches close to him. probably in about week I'll be able to touch him without him nipping at me.
hes thirsty! if he acts like that hes so dry in his mouth, hes trying to water his mouth! my budgie did the same and i thought he was dry and he was! if he does that bring him water right away!!!! I MEAN IT!

@konni1231 They grind their beaks because they are happy and content. Do a web search for "why do lovebirds grind their beaks" This is exactly how false information is spread.
