  • people with no skill are given most of the project resources in the world. retained water on a building (except in sealed tanks, like plastic) will contaminate and deteriorate the structure, and make people ill. maintenance and remodeling theives spend several times the building cost to decorate and to repair the sabotage that their friends made. make a simple building, with windows for light, and put some food trees and a pond next to it. - james mcashan for the US Senate

  • great clip keep it up =)

  • A green roof works well in improving the local air quality and also reducing the energy-bills.

  • Water retention from plants (on roofs, lawns, gardens, and elsewhere) helps reduce what's called stormwater runoff. In urban areas with a lot of concrete and paved surfaces, all runoff from rain picks up pollutants and particulates and flushes them into the sewer system. There are a number of pollution problems associated with this. Google "stormwater runoff" to see why water retention is a good thing. Of course, a roof must be strong enough to hold the extra plants/soil/water.

  • By retention she is refering to the plants ability to absorb water to enable photosynthesis. The membrane used to line the roof is impervious to to the plants, so leaks are unlikely to occur.

  • the point is plants use the water. insects (bees etc) pollinate the plants. A garden where there was concrete. plants producing oxygen into the atmosphere.

unless youre a city pidgeon used to shiittiing on concrete then there are no negatives.

flat roofs get very hot in the summer and this can shorten the lifespan of the ashphalt . this has a load of positives....insulation/nature/environment

DID YOU KNOW YOU COULD RECYCLE AND USE THE RAIN WATER TO RUN YOUR WASH MACHINE AND FLUSH THE TOILETS?

  • Hi. At 1:19, you mention that green roofs can help retain 50-90% of rainfall. I don't know anything about green roofs, but why would one want their roof to retain any rainfall at all? Won't that lead to leak inside the building not to mention the significant weight of that much retained water?
