Hi, not exactly sure how got here again. I'd watched a lecture by Martin Nowak on 'theRSAorg" channel. He sounds like the Terminator. Perhaps you were a side link? -- Ask yourself why you keep watching the drama you dislike. My suggestion is that rather than spend time on some drama with folks you don't seem to like, then join me instead in spending more of your time with cooperative folks on Youtube who share on many topics with no drama. Lots of good stuff to find! Lots of great folks.

I think some of us are forever trying to use YT for something that it simply isn't. Well, at least not for the masses.
The sharing of ideas, discussion and debate is not what this site was intended for. That's not to say it can't be used for that, but, perhaps we will always be disappointed with outcomes because of it.

Don't take youtube so seriously... People go on here to watch videos, have fun, and occasionally fuck with each other. Sometimes when people fuck with eachother it gets a little heated, even in the real world. It just happens more often here when you have so many people, so many stupid videos, and so much anonymity.

Dunno. Since I started realising that I didn't need everybody to agree with me I have been fluttering around this site like a happily demented butterfly.

"How do you determine if a video is 'pwnage' or 'drama'?"
Simple: If the person getting "pwned" reacts harshly or not. In an example like, say, TheAmazingAtheist pwning HowTheWorldWorks, HTWW took it as a compliment and both users get along quite well. It depends on whether it gets personal, but I'm sorry, the pwnage olympics is NOT an example of drama.
The rest of the comment seems to me comes across as a slippery slope, as if every single pwnage video will lead to another drama.

Youtube is just a terrible forum for trying to discuss anything. Some people make an admirable attempt to do something different, and sometimes partially succeed. But YT is designed to be a highly superficial space and it does a brilliant job of producing highly superficial content. Even from those with intentions to produce something more. I have no space left to explain why I believe this happens, so I guess I'll just give you an anonymous thumb up or thumb down and move on to the next video.

@ExistentialExistent outside of video games I don't even like killing ants.
Oh dear whining again about how YT isn't like some electronic version of The Academy? Here's an idea, choose a circle of people, add them to your friends list then put your channel on friends only. Then you can wander around in your togas, strumming your lyres, and contemplating the meaning of life with no one to bother you. Oh right, you want everyone else to conform to your ideals of social interaction. nevermind

@HardigansHoliday I not here to talk to an insular, preselected group, nor do I want 'everyone [or in fact ANYONE] else to conform to [my] ideals of social interaction.'
I just want to be able to talk to people who disagree with me without losing the thread in a lot of pointlessness.

The good thing about Youtube is that you don't have to be here. Nobody is forcing anyone to be a part of the drama. If you find yourself obsessing over the drama, you are spending too much time on Youtube/the internet and should probably log off for awhile, or at least navigate to another site. You can't change human nature.

I want to understand what happens on YT. I know from studying game theory that what happens here [and to a lesser extent on some other social networking platforms] is not a match for real world findings for game dynamics and I'm curious about the reasons for the difference
I have some ideas about the difference...But I would like to see the reasons studied in detail by game theorists. Games can be designed to encourage healthy cooperation
YouTube seems designed for the opposite

Disagreeing with a stupid but vocal handful on YouTube can suck as much as disagreeing with the majority.
