This is a VR to a vid by theshoewhisperer, regarding vegetarianism and harm none and what it all means.

Like I said, I respect her and her opinion on the issue, and respect everyone's right and choice to be veggie, even if it's not right for me at this time in my life.

Blessed Be :)

  • First off I thought the title was Vegetarian = Ham! LOL

As someone who does not follow the 3 folds law. This does not apply to me. Second Being a Vegetarian is just not something I could ever do.

You make some great points. No matter what you do in life you are harming in some way shape or form. Don't forget rodents and other animals are killed to protect vegetation.

  • @RivaWitch HA! That would be funny! LOL and I agree that there is alot of harming that isn't addressed in the pagan community, rather focusing on the "meat-eater vs non-meat-eater" issue.

  • For me, it is about REDUCING the harm that I cause. I know that I will never be able to completely 100% never harm anything ever again. I can make the choice to not eat meat, wear leather, etc.

  • @SpiritualProgressive I get what you're saying. Even though I do eat meat (fish, eggs, etc), I don't wear leather, fur or anything like that because it just feels like exploiting something for nothing more than commercialization, which I'm against. Like I said, I'm glad there are those out there that can commit to vegetarianism; I find it very difficult, personally. Thanks for commenting :)

  • I'm a vegan and i totally agree with you on your point of view. the law of 'harm none' wasn't the reason i became a vegan, but certainly made me try harder to abstain from animal products. This is my path, this is what is right for me, I feel bad for consuming animals-but others don't-and that's fine! i don't seek to condemn meat-eaters and wish not to be condemned in return. everyone has different attitudes and that's what makes Paganism so great.

  • that outfits cute don't sweat it. On the topic of vegetarian = harm. You eat fruits and vegetables too and according to most beliefs the plants have a spirit too. Everything on this planet for the most part eats and or drinks from another life source. I've used that concept on some people just to watch their reaction. If they step on a bug i'd call them a murderer. lol and who hasn't squashed a bug.

  • Hey, thanks so much for the response, I only just found it! Really enjoyed watching your video and totally agree with alot of your points especially the last point. If you eat meat it is important to know where it's coming from. I totally agree on animal tested products too, but the main point I agree with is that its a choice and it's up to everyone to do what they want. Harm none is percieved differently by everyone. For me its what is is and for you it is different ect. enjoyed this alot x x

  • I agree with your points. Vegetarianism doesn't necessarily avoid harming animals, because farmers kill wildlife to protect vegetable crops.

    Blessings from the Great Spirit.

  • Very nice! I think you covered all angles quite fairly & I agree that meat eaters have a responsibility to eat animals that were treated humanely during their lives & during slaughter. Native Americans had a beautiful take on this.

  • Great video. I for one am not Wiccan, I am Pagan. I do try to follow the rede to a point in not harming but I still eat meat. There is a difference is buying meat that is grown just for the meat, such as chickens. I try to buy only free range chickens and eggs even though it does cost more. They are treated much better then say in the chicken houses. You cant be a 100% harm none like you said. So much can be said on this topic!

  • Interresting video :-)

To me harm none means just what it says: none, that includes animals, nature etc. That is why I became Vegan, quit smoking, ride my bike to work, buy secondhand when I can, try to buy local and so forth. Having said that however: It is in our world today, like you said, not possible to harm absolutely nothing.

I try to do the best I can :-)

If someone else decides to eat meat then that is their choice. I do not agree with that, but I respect their opinion/choice :-)

  • Vegetarians eat more dairy then non vegetarians thus harming animals more as the practice of extracting dairy is highly torturous. i like to say that i'm not a vegan but i choose to eat vegan. i am always striving to improve. it comes down to intention and personally and we are all one, so if you harm yourself physically or mentally you are harming others. know we are always doing our best. doing our best is all we are doing, its human to experience all negative & positive emotions.

  • I completely agree with you. Great video. ^^

  • I completely agree with you!! I think I might make video response.
