She was very nice, but Im still not sure I have the answers Im looking for. I want to know if there is a cheap polarization or expensive higher quality. Also does the cheap kind if there is one wear out faster. If anyone has any info please comment and share your experience. More video interviews to come

I then went to lens crafters to have a few pairs of frames tested for UV %. The guy did not want me to video tape, so here is what happened. The REDSTAR pair I had was polarized( as tested at sunglass hut), and did have UV protection of at least 99%. The guy at lens crafters said some stuff that makes no sense to me. He said if the lenses are made of polycarbonate then they will always have the UV % they say they have. WTF??? I need a second opinion. Anyway the redstar frames checked out ok, as did my 70 pair of Bolle. The redstar feels cheap and looks bad on my face, IMO. These are worth 15-22.50 IMO. I would rather have a legit brand for 50-70 that have spring hinges and comfort nose grips. Just my opinion

  • She is a salesperson, and as usual, they don't know WTF they are talking about. Polarized lenses never wear out. It is part of the internal structure of the glass. All it does is reduce glare. Also only goggles are 100% UVA &UVB protection because light still gets inside your eyes from the sides of the glasses.

  • @matkyne +1

  • Oh, gosh - I'll bet the "filter" on my 4 y/o clip-ons has "just basically rubbed-off" by now. Although, they were, you know, that, "on top of the UVA-UVB, also the percentage of it". Ahhhhhh........now, THAT's a clip-on of a different, "you know, pair of polarization"!

Excellent interviewing skills - and, top-flite camera work, as well - so much so that I just can't stop starting the video!!! Congrats, my friend, on a job very well-done!

I feel better already, about my, uhh, you know........

  • where is this sunglasses hut?

  • Watching this clip and reading the comments urk me. Good quality sunglasses are 100% uv protected, not all sunglasses have layers of polarization. Take Oakley for example, which similar to Revo inject the lenses. What isn't getting mentioned is the fact that polarization also filters out UVC rays as well which is more commonly associated with skin cancers. Everyone claims to be an expert but doesn't know half of what they are talking about. I'm no expert myself but after this I feel like one

  • I think she got nervous because of the camera. Polarization is the first thing you learn about at Sunglass Hut and it is explain thoroughly on product knowledge cards. It obviously cannot rub off but there is a difference between brands. The best polarized lenses come in Maui Jim sunglasses. Revo would be a close second. Ray Ban comes next.

  • @matkyne OH Man you are so wrong with this post. You should do your home work before you show the world how wrong you are about sunglasses!!!

    -1

  • Polarization is a film that is laminated/sandwiched on the lens (usually the front). There is a layer of lens material that is over top of this one. So no it doesn't "rub off". That's moronic. Maui Jim sunglasses are one of the best on the market for many reasons. They tend to use glass lenses (as opposed to CR-39 or polycarbonate) which is superior in optical quality. Maui jims typically have back side anti-reflective and front side mirrors and these two coatings are less scratch resistant.

  • it builded within the lens ?? u know u know WTF

  • This bitch is stupid

  • Yes hit me up I work for them I would double check on all ur questions on because she didn't really make any sense

  • @paulkielsmithdotcom Thanks, Paul - this one just wrote itself, while I frantically took dictation...

BTW - really relieved to read matkyne's expert comment about Polarized lenses. I was about to chuck my ol' snorkels in the dustbin!
