Firstly, the armour and tactics presented in the video are slightly different from the Skies of Croda equivalent. The major difference is using a sheild or using an armour with HGE (as this video). Newer players may prefer a sheild as it is safer in some circumstances, while others who are more confident will probably get more mileage out of HGE since it allows more attacking opportunities.

The main strategy against Diablos with HBG is simple: Scatter level 3 shooting the tail (the weak spot). Scatter shots will automatically seek out targets to a degree, so fine aiming is not required. If you have a half-second, then quickly scope aim at the middle of the tail, but otherwise point yourself at the tail without aiming and the shots will find their way there. Diablos is a deadly, but predictable, creature. As you can see in the video, the main issue is being able to avoid attacks and then retaliate. Evade skills (evade +2 or evade Inc as in the video) are very useful.

The armour in the video is Khezu Z, Conga Z, Chameleos X, Khezu Z and Famitsu X (gives the skills Evade Inc, Pellet S Up and High Grade Earplug with gems) and the gun is the Yama cannon, an excellent weapon for scatter shots with low reload and recoil.

When it charges, with Evade Inc, roll two or three times not straight left or right, but once to the left or right and then 45 degrees towards it. This will postion you 45 degrees behind it and out of tail smash range - giving you a few free hits on the tail. When it burrows, roll three times around the spot where it went under. If it burrows next to you, then roll OVER where it burrowed. Otherwise, roll around it. Note that the G rank Diablos can change burrow direction. As long as you are rollingaway from it and on an angle (not straight away from it) then it cannot hit you. Make sure when it surfaces you aren't in range of the tail smash (since it usually does this when surfacing) and you can fire 2-4 shots at the tail.

If it ever gets too far away from you, you must sheathe since it'll do a homing charge on your position which is difficult to avoid. if it roars, with HGE you can simply blast it. If you're using a sheild, then let it block before you start firing otherwise it won't block and you'll get scream locked.

Whenever you flinch it, fire at the tail till it recovers. Whenever it rages, it'll do its rage animation which allows for a lot of free hits (though be ready to roll out).

As long as you keep re-positioning yourself behind it and from just far enough away to avoid tail smashes, you'll be in the best range for Pellet shots (not too close, but about 2-3 rolls away). This range will also keep you away from its very dangerous new spin attack that the G rank Bloses do.
