Sonic 2: Final Boss has brothers (glitch)

Using the debug mode, I managed to find a glitch in Sonic 2. When you beat the final boss, you're supposed to run away. But if you halt your running using the debug mode and you come back in the room, another boss (or more) will challenge you! All while you are burning!

After a while I decided to run away because the game became too laggy due to the high number of sprites on the screen.

Note that you may die if you run away too slowly!
