One of Miles Davis's last concert performances on 8th July 1991 at Montreux Jazz Festival. Miles went back to the 'Birth of the Cool' for the first (and sadly last) time ever. Orchestra conducted by Quincy Jones

  • Thanks! This is one of my favourite songs by Miles.I seem to remember that they said in the beginning of the concert it was his last performance. Miles was already rather ill at the time of the concert (they had Wallace Roney as a back-up soloist in case Miles had to rest). Miles died two months later,so in any case, it was one of his very last performances.

  • This wasnt Miles' LAST performance, it was in Santa Monica, 1991, on former member Wayne Shorter's b-day. During that concert on the tune "Hannibal", Miles quotes "Happy Birthday" to Wayne. Miles died a few weeks after in Sept. 1991
