@cklovestodrum the water above the dam is shallow, only 4 feet deep to be exact, because it is so full of sediments. and it is unnaturally warm for the ecosystem so it is not thriving as well as it should. also, you should definitely watch some videos or take a geology class becasue there is tons of evidence that because of things like this, beaches are eroding. if we take this dam down, steelhead will return and thrive.
have any of u actually seen the lake on top... they started the dam and ruined the steelhead, now they want to tear it down and ruin the now thriving ecosystem above it. maybe we should look into fixing that thing instead of tearing it down for unclear reasons. as far as the beaches go, i want to see some solid scientific evidence that the silt up there would actually do something
@125bigmack The dam is crumbling already. The dam is almost full of sediment. I grew up on that river. I'm from Ojai. The dam has exceeded it's useful lifespan and now it's a liability. When it finally comes down it should be a planned demolition, not a catastrophic failure in the middle of the night during a storm. It could last another 20 years or it could come down next rainy season but it has exceeded it's "design" life. All dams have a designed lifespan by the engineers.
