Protesting BSL in Ontario 2010

Song by Maria Daines from her CD "Not Guilty". On August 29Th 2005 a Liberal majority at Queens Park enacted BSL in Ontario. The rage continues in 2010 as thousands of non offending dogs have been ripped out of loving family homes and destroyed because of just how the look. The battle for common sense continues as MPP Cheri DiNovo seeks to repeal BSL while promoting the successful Calgary animal services program. There will be no WHITE FLAGS until we have this barbaric law repealed

@dectrone . Sadly, there was a young man in England that did kill himself and that is what Maria refers/sings to in this song. The harm that this law has done is heartbreaking. I know of two people who morgaged their homes to save their K9 family member. This law needs to be repealed for sure.

@dectrone We are having a large protest before the Election on Oct 6th. The protest will be on Sat. Oct 1st. here it Toronto. Cannot post a link but search out in facebook  ONTARIO DOGS VOTE ANTI BSL RALLY, Support Hersheys bill.

I know some people are discussing a smaller event for Ottawa but nothing confirmed right now for Ottawa.

@JBokmin It is a law that discriminates against certain breeds of dogs. Rather than judge a dog on its temperament ,BSL allows a death sentence based on only how the dog looks. We believe in a effective dangerous dog law, and know that its NOT the breed of a dog that can make it dangerous, but the owner behind the dog.

@dectrone Next Rally is the BIG one Dectrone. The Tri-Members Bill to remove BSL in Ontario is being put forth for 2nd reading on February 23rd at Queens Park. The three MPP's who are putting it forth will be out on the lawn to talk about at noon. We need ALL the advocates we can get to greet and meet them. @Bizziboy poodles, chow chow, black labs, gold retrievers sometimes, these are dogs i do not trust cause of the reason i have seen them attack other dogs in the park i go to. i have two pitbulls all within the bans life span and i trust both of my dogs with babies/puppyies/kittens. pitbulls are very strong animals inside and out. for someone to turn them into killers you have to be a vicious human because i know i have been ruff with my dog king and he is a sweet heart.. its never the dog

Good luck with the McGuilty government. Look at the state of your foster care systems and street-life.... if they don't care about the kids I can't see them caring about a particular breed of dog.

Every pitbull I have ever come across in my life has been just awesome, beautiful dogs. I've never been bitten by one... now poodles... I have been attacked by repeatedly. Never serious .... they are small it's kinda funny. But none the less it's an animal... the only bad pitbulls exist is because of bad owners. It's just government making stupid decisions... not a valid piece of logic was used to come up with this law. Just ignorant opinions based from ignorant people.

Poor animals.

Excellent, keep up the great work, common sense will prevail and you will undoubtedly save innocent lives! BSL is cruel, unfair and based on ignorance. Companion dogs that have never acted dangerously should not be put to sleep because of the way they look.

Excellent and effective campaigning, well done to you all, Breed Specific Legislation does NOT prevent dog bites, we need preventative education for all dog related issues and for all breeds, starting with education for irresponsible owners who can be taught how to care for and train their dogs properly and if they do not wish to do this then why have a dog in the first place? Keep up the good work. Education is the way forward.
