Hey, Discus fish like acidic water more. 6-7 is good though. Nice fish, and your really lucky to have gotten a wild breeder for free.

i have a 75 gallon fish tank how many discus could i have in there (i already have 2 bonsai rams, 12 cardinals and 2 killifish0

i started my discus aquarium by just adding exact amount of "EASY LIFE" special for discuses . it does great job by softening the water!

25 gallon is pushing it IMHO. You could keep a pair in there, but that wouldn't be optimal. Go get at leat a 40 gallon tank. The fish will live longer in it, and be much happier. I am upgrading from my 45 to a 60 gallon tank as we speak for my grown adult pair, so the bigger the tank the better, when you are keeping discus. Good luck!

hey dude i have around 25 gallon tank would i be able to keep discus in theyre permanently and if yes are there any species of them which stay small

(1/2) Very easy, you need invest in a good filter, I would recommend an external canister filter, which has good circulation. Then you have to lower the pH, it is not necessary to lower it unless your tap water has a pH that exceeds 7.5. For this you can use peat moss or chemicals, but again unless your pH is over 7.5 then this is not needed. remember to keep the substrate clean, never overfeed, and change 10% of water every two weeks. Also keep temperature between 28-30 Celsius.
Could i keep 4 discus in a 200 litre tank ??

Yes no problmen, just be careful about putting other fish in the tank. I'd say 4 discus, 10 cardinals 4 corys and maybe one bristlenose. Just remember to have a good external filter.

(2/2) And remember that Discus thrive with non aggressive fish, so only combine Discus with cardinals, corys and plecos. When you have these things in check, then Discus are very easy to keep. My spawn every three weeks, which is a very good sign that they are happy in the tank. Give it a go, just remember to have all these things in check before you introduce Discus, also if you are just starting a new tank, you need to age it for at least 3 weeks. so that bacteria can stabilize. Good luck.
