Yes, those are the Hit Strips from Nicros. That's not plywood. It's 2 2x10's mounted together with joiner plates. They aren't breaking under any normal load.

did you get that from nicros? u might wanna support the middle part of that ply wood. hehe

It is two 2" x 10" boards held together by the hit strips on one side and a flat metal brace on the other side. They are cut to length for that particular location. The boards are very sturdy and I don't believe regular plywood would work. Cost was around $10-15 if I recall for the wood and hardware.

Yes, but Hit Strips target specific finger combinations with ergonomically shaped pockets. The old school Bachar Ladder was essentially the same idea. This is more refined and climbing specific.
