Get over it, it's just a fucken flag.

How the hell is burning a flag "subjugating free speech"?
Everyone who has criticized us so far have all seemed to use strawman arguments. I am entirely happy to engage on the issue but that shit is ridiculous.

to burn the flag of your own country is treason, and as such should be dealt with severely, those who have fought under that flag for the freedom that we enjoy today deserve more respect. you people are the scum of the earth and nothing more than the snot in a taliban tissue. fuck you, i hope you die.

Really, turning ANZAC Day into a political issue to protest Kevin Rudd attempting to make it a political issue is a bit hypocritical, don't you think?

We're not protesting his turning it into a political issue. It has always been political; it's a nation-building exercise. An event which involves marching soldiers, words like "freedom," and entrenchment of militarism by politicians is not apolitical.

You have no concept of what ANZAC Day is.
It is a day where a nation remembers the dead. It is not about glorifying or celebrating war. It is meant to be a reminder of why we should avoid war. You can argue that hasn't worked, but ANZAC Day still exists to remind us.
If you want to protest war, why don't you protest action movies and video games: they glorify and trivialize war..
Why not burn an x-box instad of a flag?

'It is meant to be a reminder of why we should avoid war.'
Then why do we keep hear about soldiers dying for our freedom, and why is it used to facilitate moves such as Kevin Rudd's expansion of military spending? If it was white poppies and moves towards disarmament, we'd support it.

"Then why do we keep hear about soldiers dying for our freedom"
Because most people believe that they did. I'm not going to get into a hypothetical discussion on what the world would be like today had the Nazi regime continued unopposed. The sad fact is that they died. We honour the dead, but not the wars.
Last time I checked, Kevin Rudd was the PM of AUSTRALIA. He has nothing to do with NZ military spending.
Perhaps you should have burned the Australian flag if that is your only excuse.

How about if we hadn't sent troops to Galipolli? The Allies wouldn't have got a valuable trade route for Tsarist Russia, and we wouldn't have lost so many men.
