Nishit Shukla comes across a poor but talented street child

This is what India is all about at the moment, a country of great contrasts, watch this small girl-child, as poor as she can get, one who ekes out a living begging, but wait, where does she beg? She begs in front of the Odeon Cinema in Connaught Place, New Delhi, Odeon, which has now been bought by the second richest Indian, Anil Ambani and is called Big Cinemas, the same which is now going to produce movies in collaboration with Spielberg in Hollywood. No, no, unlike poverty-apologists, I am not blaming the rich for her plight, Ambani is not at all responsible, I dont know who is, perhaps the collective consciousness of this country is. However, getting back to this child, she came up to me with that familiar India begging -style, the Bhikshaatan-style which was perhaps popularised by the great Buddha and his contemporary Mahaira Jain, Bhikshus, they were all and even befroe that perhaps the Hindu sages and saints had perfected the art of begging, so why wouldn't she also beg, she is only carrying forward that great legacy that has been bequesthed to us by our great men. When I asked her if she went to school, she nodded in the affirmative, when I asked her to count from 1-20, wow, she managed to, she even did the 'ABCD' but could not take it further, well, the HIndi alphabets, she could not recite, but I am sure 99% of the educated too dont know the hindi alphabets, so why blame her, that a poor beggarly child could knew the numners from 1-20 is absolutely great, I bought her a bottle of Fanta for this. Just wonder, if this girl was born into a better family, wouldn't she have gone on to become a doc or a IT professional, absolutely nothing is wrong with her, what is wrong is the attitude of this country and the policies of the non-sensical communist Congress party which wants to perpetuate poverty and propitiate the muslims for electoral gains. The best thing about this child was that when I went there a second time there the next day, she did not come up to me asking, instead she stayed away, actually had to cajole her to take another bottle of, ummm she asked for a 'mazaa' thsi time. Wish, i could do something for her, may be sponsor her education, unfortunately, with my measly income, there is no wa I can spare anything.
