@cdffgg2 This is a very common dress in rural India specially in Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharastra. The bottom part is like a skirt known as ghagra and the top part is like a large scarf which looks like a small sari. You will see this outffit in many indian movies.

@tolykozin,,most of the people who made this film were from Utter pradesh also known as U.P and hindu's and muslim's live there together and share their culture too.

Ah, it brought me directly back to my childhood days! - people in rural Greece of 60's and 70's had a real adoration for Nargis, i remember my aunts knew nothing about Marilyn Monroe for example, but any new film of Nargis was the big event in our small town!
