A French-Newfoundland tune composed by Emile Benoit, one of the fathers of Newfoundland fiddle music. It is named after an old CBC children's show called, you guessed it, Skipper and COmpany.

  • Watched the show back in the 60's when Ray Bellew was Skipper & met him in 1968 when he made an appearance at my school doing his radio program for teens.

  • Remember Leslie Lake (now Leslie Lake Searle) on the show? What a fabulous singer she was. Knew her from grade 6, 1966 onward to high school 1971. She's living in NS now, married with 3 boys all grown & her husband is retired. She was teaching voice & running a children's music camp each summer, along with performing now & then.

  • Saturday mornings were all about SKipper and Company. I was lucky enough to have appeared on the show a couple times...before my voice changed, lol! Thanks for the memories, Newfiefiddler! And thanks for spreading the music!

  • Hey i love your playing. I love newfie music, and I'm from ohio, lol.

  • I am from NL also....I was looking for some old clips of the show, I use to watch this when I was a kid also. Excellent job!!

  • you're a great fiddler. keep it coming.

  • yeah man! go newfies.represent the west coast of newfoundland

  • Hey Newfiefiddler, love your stuff! I really enjoy Emile's tunes too. I have been trying to track down a copy of "Emile's Dream". Is it still available anywhere for purchase in NFLD? I tried "Fred's" and they don't have it. Needless to say, there is nothing available out here on the west coast.

  • oh btw the songs we learned from you are posted on youtube if you'd like to hear them just type in me mother won't let me marry and its like th e 3rd one down,, we're not AWESOME or anything but a great help to us, Thanks & keep posting new songs your amazing!

  • hey newfie fiddler,my classmate & I always watch your videos to learn new songs for concerts and different things like that in school we're grade 11 strings but we're tryin to learn toss the feathers by the corrs for our spring concert it would be great if you could play it and post it up cause we'd love to hear it :)The one by the corrs is way to fast for us so it would be nice if you could slow it down so we can play along with you on the computer, thats usually how we practice.
